When is Melanated Campout 2026?+
September 25 through 27, 2026. Friday through Sunday at Lake Blackshear in Cordele, GA. Add the Thursday early arrival if you want to ease in a day before everyone else shows up. Check-in opens Friday morning. Come as early as you can. The vibe starts immediately.
I've never camped a day in my life. Is this really for me?+
Friend. Most people who show up have never camped before. And most of them come back every year after. We have real bathrooms and hot showers on-site. You can rent a tent so you don't even need gear. There's a Camping 101 workshop. And you'll have a whole campground full of camp cousins around you who understand completely. You are going to be more than fine.
What does the ticket actually include?+
Every package includes your camping space or setup plus an all-access activity pass for the full weekend plus a parking pass. The number of activity passes per package varies — tent packages include one pass, RV and luxury packages include two. That covers Dinner in Orange, the watergun battle, live music, comedy, line dance, yoga, the business summit, fishing, the watch party, the Homecoming Party — everything. One price, all weekend long.
Do I need to bring my own tent or RV?+
Nope. Tent rentals are available right at the event. Contact Trelley at 937.583.8176 or Deborah at 678.437.2441 to get yours set up before you arrive. For RV rentals and delivery, reach out to Steve at Fireside RV (404.500.9070), Don Sports (478.808.5722), or check RVShare and Outdoorsy. You just need a ticket and yourself.
What's the meal plan and do I need it?+
The meal plan covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all three days. Is it worth it? If you want to spend zero mental energy thinking about food and all your time enjoying yourself, yes. You literally just show up hungry and we handle the rest. Add it at checkout. Your future self will thank you.
Is there a payment plan?+
Yes. Payment plans are available at checkout. Start with a deposit and pay the balance over time. Do not let the price tag be the reason you miss this. Call us at 404.832.0277 and we'll figure it out together.
I'm coming solo. Am I going to be okay?+
You are going to be better than okay. Solo cousins are honestly some of our favorites because they arrive open and leave full. There are mixers, campfire conversations, a Color and Chill session, and a whole campground of people who are all here for the exact same reason. You will not be alone for long. That's not a warning. That's a promise.
What should I bring?+
Something orange for Friday night. Comfortable shoes. Layers for the evenings because it cools off. Your camp chair. Bug spray. Sunscreen. A watergun or grab one there. Melanated Campout is a Black-centered, Black-created, Black-owned space built with the Black community at the heart of everything. You will feel that the moment you arrive and we want you to.
